Down to Chicago

My wife and I decided to go down to Chicago again this year to celebrate our anniversary. Forgot my new Airport Express, which is great to have at hotels that have high speed – but it wound up not mattering at all. We stayed at the Hawthorne Suites in Schaumburg – nice place – high speed wireless, pool, hot tub, breakfast, the works.

We had a nice weekend…

Friday afternoon, we went to the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg. Looked around, went to eat. Then we returned to the hotel, sat in the hot tub, watched a movie, and went to bed.

Saturday, we went downtown Chicago and did some shopping on Michigan Ave. Of course we had to stop by the Apple Store where I picked up a new bag for my PowerBook. I was really disappointed to see that the Sony store was gone. I was more looking forward to the Sony store then the Apple Store – kinda weird for me but we don’t have any other full blown Sony stores near buy – we do have a few Apple Stores tho. Saturday afternoon we walked over to the Navy Pier and walked around, ate then later watched the fireworks – pretty cool.

Sunday we decided to try to head back early so we could get back early. We wanted to pick up our puppy and see my brother-in-law’s new baby. Well we tried… Shopping took a little longer then we expected – looking for the right gift(s) for the new baby and picking up some Godiva chocolate for my boss who was taking care of our puppy for us. Chocolates would have been nice – if I wouldn’t have forgotten them at the mall. Then the trip home… The trip went great and fast until about 20 miles south of Madison. For the second year in a row, we got stuck behind a big accident on 90. Last year it was by Rockford, IL. We were at a dead stop for a couple of hours until Sarah decided that she was sick of waiting and drove through the median. We then snaked our way home through some back roads. Got to see the baby, picked up the puppy and went home.

We still always seem to be tired after our vacations.
